Central Swindon North Parish Council warns that hot weather is creating real challenges for local pitches as the new football season approaches. The council is working to ensure play can begin as soon as it is safe. BBC West recently joined the Clerk & Operations Manager to hear about those challenges and the importance of grassroots sport to the parish. Major works get underway at Swindon supermarket as entrance closed. A spokesperson for the council said: "We'll do all we can to get the season started as soon as it's safe to do so." The council plans to update clubs and players in the coming days.
