Swindon Town are hopeful that Paul Glatzel will be back this weekend after he missed the trip to Northampton Town with a hamstring issue. Having nearly managed to make it through a week without a fresh injury concern, following the final training session ahead of the opening match of the League Two season, Glatzel felt tightness in his hamstring. The former German youth international signed a new contract to keep him at the club until 2029 in the build-up to the match, and is viewed as being a pivotal part of Town’s plan this term. But after locking up in his hamstrings in training, the decision was taken to leave him out of the squad for Northampton, and he was replaced on the left wing by Ben Middlemas, with new signing Jaylan Pearman on the bench as he met his new teammates for the first time on the bus to the game. Glatzel returned from a hamstring rupture in July and has made very strong progress in a short space of time, running 12 kilometres in a goalscoring display at Cardiff City in the Carabao Cup. The hope is that he has only picked up a minor issue and, with time to rest, will be in line to return against Cheltenham Town this weekend. Read more
