Swindon Town’s former left-back Finley Munroe is on the move again - this time to League One side Blackpool on loan after struggling for minutes at Middlesbrough.
What happened?
Munroe, who impressed during a loan spell at Swindon last season, is set to leave Middlesbrough after just 53 minutes of action since January. The Championship playoff finalists want him playing regularly, so a short-term deal with Blackpool is expected to go through shortly.
Why it matters for Swindon Town
Munroe’s 27 appearances for Swindon last season brought two goals and seven assists, including a last-minute winner at Tranmere Rovers. His form drew praise from then-manager Ian Holloway, who called him the best young full-back he’d ever worked with.
Holloway said: “We’ve just lost the quality he gave us down there. Aston Villa, you should be ashamed of yourselves.” Swindon sit ninth in England League Two with 75 points from 46 games, 12 points behind Bromley.

Blackpool need left-back cover after Matt Targett’s exit to Newcastle. Munroe won’t feature in their plans after losing their opening pre-season friendly to Celtic. His departure leaves Swindon with a defensive reshuffle as they chase automatic promotion.
