Heidi Alexander MP praises Swindon Town Foundation's impact on local children

Swindon Town FC Community Foundation welcomed local MP and fan Heidi Alexander to see its summer football camps, which engaged over 1,100 children, and to celebrate new funding for a programme set to reach 900 more in primary schools.

Swindon Town FC Community Foundation has been praised by local MP and supporter Heidi Alexander for its work with young people across the town. The visit to Foundation Park highlighted the success of the EFL Kellogg's Football Camps and a newly funded project starting next month.

Heidi Alexander was shown around during the summer holidays to see the camps in action. Over five weeks, more than 1,100 children took part in the activities. The MP also provided support for a successful funding application to the EFL's 'Joy of moving' programme, which is Ferrero's corporate social responsibility initiative.

"It was fantastic to see the STFC Community Foundation’s football camps in action," said Heidi Alexander. "It’s brilliant that children in Swindon have access to a safe, fun and active space during the school break, as well as the chance to build friendships that last."

The new 'Joy of moving' project will launch in October. It will deliver in-school workshops aimed at inspiring children to get active and develop motor coordination and life skills. The programme is expected to engage with 900 children across Swindon's primary schools.

"We are incredibly grateful for her support in securing the EFL Joy of moving project, which will enable us to engage with 900 children across Swindon’s primary schools to become healthier and more active."

The community work continues as the first team focuses on its League Two campaign. Swindon Town currently sit 9th in the table with 10 points from their opening six matches.
