Swindon Town's EFL Trophy campaign began with a 2-1 defeat to Crystal Palace's under-21 side at the County Ground on Tuesday. Antoine Hackford gave the hosts the lead but two goals either side of half-time saw the Premier League academy side take the points.
Ian Holloway's team started positively and were rewarded in the 23rd minute when Hackford found the net. Their lead was wiped out in first-half stoppage time, however, as Caleb Kporha equalised for the visitors. The turnaround was completed ten minutes after the restart when Sebastian Williams fired Palace ahead.
Swindon, who made five changes at the break in a bid to turn the tide, could not find a way back. The result leaves them with work to do in their remaining EFL Trophy group fixtures. It also extends a difficult recent run, with the team now having lost their last two matches in all competitions.
In League Two, Swindon sit ninth with ten points from six games. Their recent form shows two wins and three losses from their last five, a sequence they will be keen to improve upon quickly.
