Joseph Hungbo's header earned Swindon Town a 1-1 draw with Accrington Stanley at the County Ground, a result that does little to ease the pressure on manager Ian Holloway. The Robins fell behind inside the first minute but responded through Hungbo's 31st-minute equaliser to claim a point.
Josh Woods stunned the home crowd by putting Accrington ahead almost straight from kick-off, finishing after Stefan Mols exploited space down the right. Swindon, lining up in a 4-3-3 with an unchanged side for the first time this season, struggled to find a rhythm initially. They grew into the game and their pressure told just after the half-hour mark. Dan Butler delivered a cross from the left and Hungbo powered his header home to level the scores.
Holloway's unchanged side
Captain Ollie Clarke led the team out for his 500th professional appearance, but the milestone was marred by the early setback. Aaron Drinan, the club's top scorer with 22 goals this season, had several chances to win it, seeing one effort blocked and another roll wide. As the game wore on and forwards Hungbo and Paul Glatzel tired, Swindon's threat diminished, relying on long balls for Drinan to chase.
Defender Kaelan Majekodunmi was booked in the 51st minute as Swindon enjoyed 58% possession but managed only 11 shots. Holloway made five substitutions in the second half, including the introduction of Billy Kirkman for his debut with ten minutes remaining, but a winner proved elusive.
"I spoke of my 'almighty' feeling that I needed to win this game," said Ian Holloway afterwards.
The draw leaves Swindon 13th in the League Two standings with 10 points from eight matches, now five games without a win. They travel to face 17th-placed Rochdale next Saturday, looking to end that run. Accrington Stanley, who saw a late chance for Tommy Leigh saved by Swindon goalkeeper Murphy Mahoney, remain in 10th place.
