Swindon Town captain Ollie Clarke has been handed a seven-match ban after committing what has been described as a 'highly violating and intentional foul play' during a match. The incidents occurred in the 57th and 94th minutes of Swindon's Carabao Cup defeat to Cardiff City on August 12. Clarke, a 33-year-old midfielder, was also fined £2,750 after admitting to two charges of improper conduct and indecent behavior towards opponents. The Football Association's independent Regulatory Commission noted that Clarke's actions were particularly troubling due to their nature and timing within the same match. Following the incidents, one player reported feeling visibly upset and emotional. Despite the findings, Swindon Town has expressed support for Clarke, stating he maintains his innocence and only admitted to the charges based on the belief that the actions were unintentional. The club has also criticized the decision, arguing that it did not meet the standard of proof required. Clarke last appeared for Swindon Town on December 13 and still has three matches left to serve on his ban.
