Three Swindon Town legends are reuniting for a special book signing event this week, offering fans a chance to connect with heroes from the club's most celebrated era. Paul Bodin, Tom Jones and Steve White will appear at Waterstones Swindon on Thursday, October 1, for an evening celebrating the publication of Swindon Town’s Journey to the Premier League.
The event begins at 6.15pm and includes a discussion where the former players will share memories of the promotion campaigns that took the club to the top flight. Tickets cost £23 and each one includes a copy of the book. They can be purchased through the Swindon Waterstones website.
The book and its historical focus
Author Dave Wallis’s work charts the club's dramatic rise under managers Lou Macari, Ossie Ardiles, and Glenn Hoddle. It is based on extensive research and first-hand accounts, featuring a foreword written by Paul Bodin. Wallis recently described the five-year period as one of drama, Wembley successes and turmoil that culminated in a season among England's elite.
Legends’ contributions and memories
Between them, Bodin, Jones and White made 816 appearances and scored 163 goals for the Robins. Bodin is forever remembered for scoring the decisive goal in the epic 4-3 playoff final win over Leicester City in 1993, the strike that secured Premier League football for the County Ground. The event provides a unique opportunity for supporters to hear directly from these key figures about that unforgettable time.
The reunion comes as the current Swindon side, sitting 12th in League Two with 11 points from eight games, prepares for its next challenge. They face Rochdale away this Saturday, looking to improve on a recent run of form. Fans can check the full schedule on the club's fixtures page and see how the squad is shaping up via the squad list. The club's modern endeavours continue, but Thursday night is a chance to celebrate a glorious past.
